Cluster Plus Project Evaluation

The "Cluster +" model seeks to respond well to this limitation when configuring a global value chain (international approach) which consists of parts of other value chains (multisectoral approach) that working together allow boost differential product / service, and even lead to new market segments (radical innovations).

For the success of a global value chain configuration within Cluster + model is essential to consider it in terms of intercluster collaboration at an international level. A leap towards technological convergence and "hybrid" activities ("cross-hybridization"), it is not possible within the cluster itself (since all agents share the same specialization), but in cooperation with other clusters of different technological domains and activities which in turn, as noted above, necessarily shall be located at different locations.
The configuration of a composed global value chain lies in integrating the links required, regardless of their location.

The configuration of a composed global value chain lies in integrating the links required, regardless of their location. A complete value chain favors the emergence of radical innovations from cross-hybridization. It is essential to empower intercluster collaboration mechanisms.

Launch of the International Observatory of Excellence TEIC-EICLAB

The International Centre of Excellence of the GAIA-EICLAB TEICs arises from the need to boost a business competitiveness cluster based on a new model of providing strategic information for decision making action-oriented, much more accurate, quickly and close to the market reality.

The new model developed by GAIA Observatory seeks to answer the bottleneck of current models of traditional strategic observatories, unprepared to meet the needs of companies in times of uncertainty and crisis like the present.

The ICLAB responds to the information needs of enterprises under the model Cluster + based on the concept of open innovation and developed within the framework of the project "Cluster + Developing The New Cluster Model Through Intercluster Collaboration" funded by the AEIs of MINETUR File Number: AEI-010400-2011-42.

EICLAB focuses on its nature as a dynamic tool that provides a useful service to all its members and the sector as a whole, capturing information directly from the international level by those most excellent agents in TEIC and GAIA. Specifically:

  • Identify needs based on the situation of the production of our cluster and contrasting with the best international practices in the sector.
  • Identify opportunities, with the provision of a technology watch service, market and competitive intelligence directly with those most internationally excellent in every field.

EXCELLENCE INTERNATIONAL OBSERVATORY TEIC EICLAB - GAIA

1

Development and commissioning of a search, collection, analysis and dissemination of relevant information international scope and relevance for companies GAIA.

2

Encourage and stimulate competitive intelligence and boost SME collective activities such as technological change analysis, tutorials, workshops, etc.., With the companies in each cluster.

3

Implementation of a system to support the identification of specific technology and innovation (AIS: strategic, programs, projects).

4

Having a support system for identifying needs and strategic intelligence mechanisms to provide valuable information for intelligent decision making in the search and exploitation of business opportunities.

The International Centre of Excellence for GAIA is a pioneering initiative that uses lessons learned from other international cases to address the limitations of traditional observatory model under open innovation imperative. In this sense, and always guided by the constant improvement that should guide the actions in a dynamic and competitive today, the goal from GAIA is a leap not only quantitative but qualitative especially regarding the nature of current observatories. A jump that allows better service, better adapted to the new needs of information and knowledge in the international context and the use of this can be from companies GAIA.
